1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
Not that I know of. The family story goes that all 3 kids have dad's preference as a first name and mom's preference as a middle name, but nothing about why the names were picked.
2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
We have one girl and don't plan on any more. We went through endless lists of names but Claire was the obvious choice the moment we saw her. Hubby is a great devotee of Mary so that had to be in there somwhere, so her name became Claire Marie Celeste, which we find funny because neither of us has a drop of French blood in us.
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
God only knows, but since my brother ended up Philip Edward I'm sure I would have had a stalwart English sort of name as well.
4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
I did, LOL. When I was a kid I liked the name Vicky; now I thank the good Lord that children don't get to pick their own names. Alyxx was chosen by me and changed officially around1989, I think. I still like the name a lot but I think if i were going to change it now I'd use a more conventional spelling.
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
When, say, a UPS guy needs to know my name because he can't read my signature, I say Alyxx and he writes Alex, and I don't correct him. I generally don't like to deal with the silly comments or questions about the spelling so I won't correct it unless it needs to be accurate for some reason. When people read Alyxx they usually get it right but always have to comment on it. The last name is baffeling to them, though. Ian they can get. Iannetta is beyond them. *sigh*

Date: 2006-08-01 06:16 pm (UTC)I guess you sort of answered the Ian vs. Iannetta thing: you just shorten it for pronounceability, is that correct?
Now I want to know what you were before you were Alyxx. Tiffany? Jezebel? Sue? :)

Date: 2006-08-01 10:09 pm (UTC)The Iannetta gives peole fits. It's my married name so it is what it is and I like it, too. When hubby's grandparents came here they changed it to Yannetta (which is how it's pronounced) but we changed it back to the proper Iannetta and most people say EE-an-edda (if I'm lucky.) If I'm at, say, the DMV, you never know what it will be but it often comes out sounding French, like EE-on-TAY. Wacky.
