I've had the interesting experience of a 5 hour band rehearsal (wailing out the likes of Livin' Lovin' Maid, White Rabbit, and To Sir With Love) followed by a madrigal rehearsal the following night, where little things like dynamics are expected.

I am a bit surprised that I survived both without sounding like Harvey Fierstein on Tuesday. I am quite tired still, though. The band music is very taxing vocally and energy-wise. The madrigals are like a soothing balm for the voice (and the soul) but I had to pay more attention than usual just to keep my voice doing what I wanted it to when it was so worked.

In costuming news: I wasn't 100% satisfied with the toile of the Queenie bodice so I toiled another. I'm still not 100% satisfied. hhhhhhhrrrrmmmm. I having a tough time getting the armseyes exactly where I want them and fairly small. I'm toiling this over my effigy corset so the back of the bodice is pretty darn high as well but the front neckline still has to be wide. Every little tweak causes a need for 2 other tweaks. I even moved my side-back seams to further around the sides. I've gotten good fit for the last few years I've been doing this, but for some reason this is just not there yet.

I guess I'm a lot pickier now than I used to be... LOL!

That, and I have NO fabric to waist if I screw up, and no way to get more. I like to live on the edge...

Tee Hee!

My gems came today for Queenie. :-) Now all I need are some brass pieces and I can get into it. If I can get off my a$$ and sew I could get a lot done even without those pieces. LOL! But, I gotta pay rent before shopping again.

Yeah, so? I have CADD, What of it? You gonna make sumthin' out of it? huh?

PDSvN gets put aside again *sigh* because I simply can't rest (literally, I can't get to sleep at night now) until I have a Queen dress. I have been approached for the second time in a year discuss playing QE1 in rather large venues. The first time the whole deal really wasn't a reasonable return for a heavy investment of time and effort so I turned it down. This time, the deal is not sealed but I really hope I get it.

But even if I don't, I just HAVE to have a queen dress. Who wouldn't in my shoes? The funny thing is, if I DO get the gig, they have 2 queen dresses already. But they wouldn't be MINE, you see...

So, I have been collecting materials and batting around design specifics for months and I think I have most everything hammered out.

So, that's the plan. The gig is in November, but even if I don't get it, I'll look FABulous in my own little queenie dress! *happy dance*
