Animated gif creation...

What do all y'all use to make your ani gif icons? I've been using photoshop just to make my plain ones but the rastered text is hard to read and I'd like to make some animated ones, too. What's out there that's simple, preferable shareware or cheap, that works just for this kind of stuff?

While the masterpiece "Boobs in a Bodice" (http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/47747858/7697025) is indeed exquisite, and would command a good price at Sotheby's, it still leaves viewers wanting more. Perhaps another photo would satisfy your legion of fans.
