I used some needle lube and went very slowly and it didn't tear up the trim too badly. It's laying flatter, too, which is nice. Now the problem is that it's slipping around under the presser foot and it's not very straight.
No matter what I do with this crap it looks like crap. Crap. Did I mention it's crap?
I am tempted to throw in the towel on this and try a whole new sleeve treatment. I've cut up all the remaining celery silk I had to make these strips, and I'm pretty sure the base layer was the last of the apple green silk as well. I will have to drag the whole pile of crap out tomorrow and see what I might have enough of to start over on these craptacular sleeves.
I have also been over and over the silver braid trim placement on the kirtle & underdress, and there is just enough to place a thick & thin row bordering each piece. The problem is to my eye it doesn't quite look right since the wider trim has more "space" in it and the thinner trim is denser. See what I mean?

It's a little thing but it bugs me. Now I have to go and see if they have any more of that trim stashed somewhere since it was vintage and I bought all they had at the time.
I am seriously displeased.
