Every year I look on the Cosume College website and lament all the cool things I'm missing by not attending. For the first time, I get my crap together enough togo this year and all the classes I wanted from the past are not offered!

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty that I want to take and I am happy to try to get into some that friends are teaching, but doesn't it seem like the schedule is a little thinner overall from past years?

Two things I am avoiding and I hope it is the right choice... I didn't want to take any classes I'd have to bring my machine to (it weighs a metric ton), and I didn't sign up for any tours since I live here and can get to almost everything.

I just wanted to spend more time being there and hanging out with the people I only "see" online. Is that so wrong? ;-)

Of course it’s not wrong - it's totally my plan too! :>

It seemed thinner to me too but then again I'm totally not interested in the theme and there all lots of theme classes, many more than last year. I noticed there weren't as many construction classes either (ie 1 corset class vs 3 last year) but coming from VA I didn't want to take anything that required a sewing machine anyway. Also the limited are cheaper, not as many $35 & $80 classes I noticed. Definitely a different selection from last year. Having said that, there are plenty of classes I want to take and more than I will actually end up going to I’m sure.

I'm all about the socializing. Also picking the brains of talented costumers... :>

You're so lucky. We don't have anything like that down here. And even if we did, there wouldn't be anyone to attend, just a handful of people :-/

It's very pretty. :-)

I'm stalling so much on sending in the limited class reg form that I'm pretty sure I won't get any limiteds this year. Which isn't breaking my heart since none of them looked all that enticing. I figure I'll show up for a whirlwind weekend of goofing off and teach a couple of classes in between. ;)

You and I can slack together while everyone else is in class. Whaddya say?

You're on!
I did sign up for the 8-hour (WTF?) metal embroidery class. That screws my Friday and will make me go blind so during our slacking for the rest of the weekend, I may need you to lead me around. :-0

Yay for slackage! I'm all about slacking and socializing. What is this "going to class" thing of which you speak? (Also, am I the only person who takes naps at CC?)

I think the sum total of classes that I takes is, umm, three for the entire weekend, but I never miss a party! And tours? What ever would you need a "native guide" tour for?

Yeah, I'm kinda bummed about the class selection this year too. I haven't even sent in my form yet, but I'm trying to take things I know I would never do on my own- like making a petticoat. I hate making underwear. Not that much cool stuff going on this year... lj teachers excluded- theirs look cool :)

It's all about the socializing! I mean, sure, a few classes, but really, socializing.

And I love the new coffee place in the hotel. You see everyone when you're sitting there! Plus they have white chocolate mochas :)

I feel for you too

I have been going to Costume College for some time, and I am disappointed that there is not a lot this year for my time frame. I was told the reason we are sold out so early these past 2 years is because they advertised in the Renaissance Magazine...yet there is hardly a tract for before the 1600's.

Will you be attending the CostumeCon 26? I have been pestering anyone and everyone I know who teaches classes or has something interesting to sign up and teach a course or 2 in before 1600's costuming.

I am still looking for someone to do glove making, and fans.
