Or not...

My original plan for 4 days off in a row was to do NOTHING but be a slug. Then I really got to itchin' on the PDSvN dress which I can't do anything further on until I finish my new farthingale. Which I don't have ribbon for the channels yet. humbug.

We had a wonderfully relaxed Thanksgiving dinner. Don did most of the cookin' and it was fabulous - his stuffing is the stuffing of legend. We had a couple of stray neighbors over and [profile] chartreusekitty and her hubby came for dessert (she's getting so round and cute!). Claire wanted nothing to do with any of the fancy food and had a traditional Thanksgiving waffle. Good food, good company, and pleasantness lasted 'till 1am and all was right with the world.

Friday was spent kicking around and planning to sew Saturday & Sunday. But Saturday came and I was struck horribly by food poisoning. Anyone who's had it knows what it's like, anyone who hasn't doesn't want to know, so I won't elaborate other than to say Saturday was horrible and Sunday was spent sleeping. I am still rather weak and unwell but ok enough to sit at my desk and work on things that don't require too much concentration.

I am absolutely determined to find the ribbon I need today at lunch, though I don't know where because the only fabric place around Pasadena I know of is a horrible Joannes on Lake. They have nothing I can use. I need silk velvet ribbon or real milliner's grosgrain. I wonder if I can make it downtown and back in an hour? I really want to get this damned thing done so I can get back to working on the dress itself - hopefully by the WASABI meet on Wednesday.

Holy cow, are you working all the way out in Pasadena?

And, erm, are you actually considering that shopping trip?

Yeah, the new job is in Pasadena, but since I leave the house at 6:45 am (!!!) it takes me less time to get here than it did to the old job in Culver City. That's LA for ya'.

We'll it looks liek I'll HAVE to amek that shopping trip tomorrow since I went to EVERY $^@%$#@^ fabric store in Pasadena today and they don't have anything but quilting crap here!!! Endless racks of small calicoes and baroque satins... you can't even find something 100% cotton, let alone 100% silk. I ask if they have silk velvet ribbon and they look at me crosseyed. I ask if they have real milliner's grosgrain and they drag me back to that crappy poly stuff with an edge so sharp it'll give you a paper cut!

Arrrrrgggghhhh!

I'm going to try and get outta here a few minutes early so I can get to ISW before it closes. It's my oly hope of getting what I need tonight. If not, it's downtown for me tomorrow! Sounds like you need something, yes?

LOL no I don't need anything! :) I'm just astounded that you would attempt to drive that far and back in an hour. I vaguely recall taking 45 minutes, minimum, to get ANYWHERE in LA.

Getting around in LA depends entirely on _when_ you drive and what route you take. And on there not being a semi on it's side like a beached whale n teh freeway you want to use. :-)

I could probably make it there in 20 minutes from here but finding parking and walking to where I need to go is the part I can't plan the timing of.

I did find some nice milliner's grosgrain last night so I won't have to make that trip today, but I will attempt it soon because I can't find the fabrics I need for my sooper sekrit CC07 project, and I need to match colors so I can't order online. :-(

Glad you're feeling better. Food poisoning really really sucks.

Yup. I can think of nothing worse, honestly. Something that is truly medically serious you have to take actions to fix and that occupies you. This is just something you have to ride out. You know it won't kill you; you just have to suffer. Hour after hour. Two exits, no waiting. Wondering if that was the last time...

Yep, if I end up in Hell for all the wrong I dun, it will be perpetual food poisoning for all eternity.
