The non-update update
Aug. 15th, 2006 08:20 pmWho'd have thought being unemployed meant being mind-numbingly busy? I have nothing really to report but I haven't posted in a while and didn't want anyone to send flowers for the funeral so...
The Traviata was a roaring success, surprisingly so. ;-) I don't have pix yet but hope to get them some time in September. I am still recovering from that pile of dresses but hope to return the last ones this Thursday after picking them up from the cleaners who charged me twice what he quoted me.
The dead car is still dead - ever trown a timing chain? Ever done it on a interference engine? Ok, a car with a non-interference engine will freeze everything in place when the timing chain breaks. You replace the chain, pay the nice man a lot of money, and drive home happy. An interference engine, well, interferes with itself, meaning that when the chain breaks the valves freeze in place and the pistons continues to slam into the valves until he whole thing blows up. The stupid thing is that the only reason to build an interference engine is when you're running it so hard for high-performance that the valves need to stay open longer than usual to get the extra horse power. My car was a1.6 ltr engine at a SCREAMIN' 65 horsepower. Performance and this car have never even been in the same room. Why did they build it this way? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
Must break in typing to dance the Nutcracker with my daughter... ok I'm back.
I think that's all that going on in life right now. Oh, all that stuff, plus job hunting, one friend's wedding, another friend's baby on the way... I want so very much to sew on all the lovely things I have in my head and on my table but haven't had a second to do anything for my own stuff. Someday I'll have time again. And I'll get to make my pear fruit reticule. Tee Hee!
