Have you ever noticed how much more often we all updated our websites before this whole LJ thang came along? I don't even know how long my site had been down, it had been so long since I went to it. :-(

Well, now that I have to find a new host, and I've been meaning to get pages up on the CC clothes and rearrange my daughter's pages, I'm actually working on it again. LOL! It's fun and it gives me something to do now that I'm not frantically sewing for Costume College.

I do have a to do list brewing:
16c Nobleman - client
PDSvN - my lazy a$$
16c dress - me
16c Nobleman - another client

It looks like I'm stuck in the 16c for the next year! That's not bad, except that I'm oddly desiring to do nothing but 18c. I've started binding my Diderot stays and I really do want to throw together the chemise dress, just to have it. Then I have the gray & yellow Anglaise and the Kyoto zone-front to make. I have all the materials for every one of these outfits except the two client-driven noblemen.

Now all I need is enough energy to do it all!

Yes I have, and this is one of the things that's driving me batty lately. The cliques we form here at the expense of the wider costuming world. It's not deliberate or malicious! but it has happened. The ease of integrating lj with photo storage palces has made it easier to write in detail here than for a website.

I'm trying to find a way to better integrate my journal with my site (for links). I've recently started to update again, it's been really hard getting back into that mindset after a month and a bit of non-permanent access.

Energy vibes your way!

That is so true! And I blame Katherine, since it was her LJ that got me into posting costume stuff on LJ! ;-) I used to update my costume site all the time, and now it's all on LJ and I try to update when I'm done with a project, but that doesn't even happen all the time! I just updated and it had been since March! :-)

BTW - was that you in the man's 18c suit at Costume College? I saw pics - it looked great!

I use LJ as a cheat-sheet to update my website. I started tagging dress-diary-like entries here, then I clean them up & add pix to port them over to my website. I don't do it in real-time, but then, I've never updated my website very frequently, monthly at best. And having constant LJ updates actually gives me *more* content to mine for my site.

But then, I'm a geek. And I enjoy working on my site more than sewing :-D

If you are still looking for a new website host, may I recommend Brinkster? http://www.brinkster.com/

I've used them for 4 years and they've provided great service and not outages.

And I totally know what you mean by site updates falling by the wayside since LJ.

Like [livejournal.com profile] trystbat I use the LJ as a cheat-sheet to update my site. So now it's updated every 4-6 weeks instead of almost everyday. But then again because LJ is easier I post more often so my diaries have more entries. I wonder if without this system I would still be bothering with the dress diary format on my site.

[livejournal.com profile] pinque's clique issue is one I struggle with, although I try to counter it by keeping my real-time, pure costuming content public instead of friend's only. My event and study pages have definitely suffered but time is the real enemy there I think. :P

Thank youm yep that was me. Can I just tell you what a BLAST it was to be in drag for the night? LOL!

And I blame Katherine for all kinds of things. She's convenient. ;-P

I can look at my LJ to get a kind of timeline but I rarely post the kind of construction detail I like ot have on my webpages, so it's of limited use. For the CC outfits, specifically, I was sewing so much on them I hardly posted at all. Except for that quitting freak-out there... :-(

LOL!, and it's where I WANT to be, it's just not what I have to make for other obligations.

I have to add/agree that the LJ tags actually do make it easy to keep track of stuff by project. So though my website gets updated less, LJ gives me both the community interaction I don't get via a solitary website, and allows me to update my site fairly easily by going back to that tag and porting stuff over... :-)
