Did I mention how much I hate binding lacing holes?

I skimped on the number since I figured this is for a kirtle that won't be seen under the dress but still, the pulling is bothering me. Of course, now that I have some lacing holes I'll have to put in twice as many if I want to do something about it. ugh.

Still I like the fit of this bodice better than any of my others, and the apple green bias binding came out pretty as well.
And witness the failed straping experiment! It looks ok on this so I'll leave it on, but I'm not going to do the undersleeves this way anymore. What's with the wrinkle? Looks like my outer layer of silk needs some securing. Careful - boobs in pic are smaller than they appear!
 AAAAARRRGGHHH! The pulling! THE PULLING!!

I also took some other shots of this that would have been more illustrating but they came out blurry. Harumph.

Now I need to make a new farthingale before I can do anything else on this.

I am jealous of your photo skills. Those pix look perfectly posed and lighted.

Aside from that, I am noticing that the pulling is at the level of the holes themselves. This may be because of two things: 1) it may be slightly too snug (leave a touch of a gap and see if it resolves itself) or 2) you may need more holes (to spread the strain).

I need more holes, dammit. It's not that tight and could stand to be tighter at the waist. It is actually a smaller effect than it appears in this light, but it still bugs me. gggggrrrrrrrrrr

The lighting was purely accidental, LOL! The only light I had in teh room was a table light that was feeble so I tilted up the shade and had to set it up on my sewing machine for the light to hit me.

Yeah I was thinking myself if anything it could be a bit snugger, definitely not looser, or you lose support. This was after Spanish fashions hit and they were really rigid;) You can't look at a Spanish protrait and think "gosh, that looks comfortable."

;)

Get to those lacing holes!

I'm not pushy;)

I could mail it to you if you are so hot to get those lacing holes in there... *wink*

Wow! I really love the front herringbone weavy thingy!

I guess you will have to do more holes, but I have dress with holes lacing up the front, and I found that if I double lace it, the pulling goes away. Every hole has a lace coming from front to back and a lace coming from back to front. It's quite the challenge to get in and out of, though.

Yeah, I get it, but I really think I can't avoid adding more holes. *pout* *pout*
I kep telling myself that no one's gonna see it, but I'll _know_.

Holes, chica; more holes!

Yeah, you've got the bite the bullet on this one I think.

Still, it looks like _such_ a nice fit, and the fabric is lovely. I also like the strapwork, and of course, what it does to your shelf is just yummy :)

[identity profile] love3angle.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Why thank you, ma'am. :-) I like my shelf in it, too, hence the new icon.

The strapwork kinda breaks my heart because I very much liked the way it came out on this and I'm still not sure why it came out so crappy on the sleeve strip. But am over it now and moving on *sniff*

After examination I only need 3 more hols in each strip, since I originally made them offset for spiral lacing. The bummer of side-back closure is that you still have twice as many holes as a single closing. That's 12 more holes total for me. I'm sure I'll bitch about this quite a bit more but I'll do them 'cause they need doin'. *grumble*

Just give in and put more holes in, or your OCD will will never let you forget it.

Or maybe that's just me:)

[identity profile] love3angle.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! Alas, I think my costuming would benefit if I had MORE OCD. I am lazy to the core and, hence, half as many holes as I really need.

Great CF detail!
